北大路 魯山人（きたおおじ ろさんじん、ろざんじん・ろさんにん とも、1883年（明治16年）3月23日 - 1959年（昭和34年）12月21日）は、日本の芸術家。本名は北大路 房次郎（きたおおじ ふさじろう）。
晩年まで、篆刻家・画家・陶芸家・書道家・漆芸家・料理家・美食家などの様々な顔を持っていた。
1883年（明治16年）、京都市上賀茂（現在の京都市北区）北大路町に、上賀茂神社の社家・北大路清操、とめ（社家・西池家の出身）の次男として生まれる。
人物
魯山人は母の不貞によりできた子で、それを忌んだ父は割腹自殺を遂げた。生後すぐ里子に出され6歳で福田家に落ち着くまで養家を転々とした。この出自にまつわる鬱屈は終生払われることはなく、また魯山人の人格形成に深甚な影響を及ぼした。
6度の結婚（1908年、17年、27年、38年、40年、48年）はすべて破綻、2人の男児は夭折した。娘を溺愛したものの長じて魯山人の骨董を持ち出したことから勘当し、最晩年にいたっても魯山人の病床に呼ぶことすら許さなかった。その一方、家庭の温かみに飢えていた魯山人は、ラジオのホームドラマの何気ない会話、微笑ましい場面によく肩を震わせ涙を流して嗚咽したという。
美食家として名を馳せた魯山人は、フランス料理の外見偏重傾向に対しても厳しく、渡仏の際に訪れた鴨料理店「トゥール・ダルジャン」で、「ソースが合わない」と味そのものを評価し、自ら持参したわさび醤油で食べたこともあった。
つねに傲岸（ごうがん）・不遜・狷介（けんかい）・虚栄などの悪評がつきまとい、毒舌でも有名で、柳宗悦・梅原龍三郎・横山大観・小林秀雄といった戦前を代表する芸術家・批評家から、世界的画家・ピカソまでをも容赦なく罵倒した。この傲慢な態度と物言いが祟り、1936年（昭和11年）に星岡茶寮から追放されてしまう。逆にその天衣無縫ぶりは、久邇宮邦彦王・吉田茂などから愛されもした。
気難しい人物で、晩年魯山人の家で働いていたお手伝いさん曰く「風呂から上がると、決まった時間にキンキンに冷えたビールがさっと出てこないと満足できない方だった。それができなくて叱られ、辞めていったお手伝いさんを何人も見た」とのこと。
阪急電鉄の創業者・小林一三は、阪急百貨店で魯山人の個展を開いていた。その折、小林は、魯山人に対して、「少しでも安く売るようにしてほしい」と伝える内容の文章を、同百貨店の美術誌に掲載した。これに対し魯山人は、1943年（昭和18年）10月19日付で小林に宛てた手紙で、「これが高いと言われるのは不愉快だ」と反論し、さらに、同月17日には、その美術誌編集者を小林が気に入っていることが不思議だと、小林自身に対しても批判した上、展覧会中止を申し出た。
1910年（明治43年）に長浜の素封家・河路豊吉に食客として招かれ、書や篆刻の制作に打ち込む環境を提供された。ここで魯山人は福田大観の号で小蘭亭の天井画や襖絵、篆刻など数々の傑作を当地に残している。そして敬愛する竹内栖鳳がしばしば訪れる紫田家の食客になることが叶い、訪れた栖鳳に款印を彫らせてもらうよう願い出る。その款印を気に入った栖鳳が門下の土田麦僊らに紹介したことで日本画壇の巨匠らとの交わりが始まり、名を高めていくことになった。
1915年（大正4年）、福田家の家督を長男に譲り、自身は北大路姓に復帰。その後も長浜をはじめ京都・金沢の素封家の食客として転々と生活することで食器と美食に対する見識を深めていった。1917年（大正6年）、便利堂の中村竹四郎と知り合い交友を深め、その後、古美術店の大雅堂を共同経営することになる。大雅堂では、古美術品の陶器に高級食材を使った料理を常連客に出すようになり、1921年（大正10年）、会員制食堂・「美食倶楽部」を発足。自ら厨房に立ち料理を振舞う一方、使用する食器を自ら創作していた。1925年（大正14年）3月20日には東京・永田町に「星岡茶寮（ほしがおかさりょう）」を中村とともに借り受け、中村が社長、魯山人が顧問となり、会員制高級料亭を始めた。
1927年（昭和2年）には宮永東山窯から荒川豊蔵を鎌倉山崎に招き、魯山人窯芸研究所・星岡窯（せいこうよう）を設立して本格的な作陶活動を開始する。1928年（昭和3年）には日本橋三越にて星岡窯魯山人陶磁器展を行う。魯山人の横暴さや出費の多さから、1936年（昭和11年）、星岡茶寮の経営者・中村竹四郎からの内容証明郵便で解雇通知を言い渡され、魯山人は星岡茶寮を追放、同茶寮は1945年（昭和20年）の空襲により焼失した。
戦後は経済的に困窮し不遇な生活を過ごすが、1946年（昭和21年）には銀座に自作の直売店「火土火土美房（かどかどびぼう）」を開店し、在日欧米人からも好評を博す。また1951年（昭和26年）に結婚したイサム・ノグチ・山口淑子夫妻を一時星岡窯に寄寓させた。1954年（昭和29年）にロックフェラー財団の招聘で欧米各地で展覧会と講演会が開催され、その際にパブロ・ピカソ、マルク・シャガールを訪問。1955年（昭和30年）には織部焼の重要無形文化財保持者（人間国宝）に指定されるも辞退。
1959年（昭和34年）に肝吸虫（古くは「肝臓ジストマ」と呼ばれた寄生虫）による肝硬変のため横浜医科大学病院で死去。
