(The High Price of Bullion, a Proof of the Depreciation of Bank Notes)という小論を発表、貨幣数量説に立って金本位制への復帰を主張した。

Economist of British advocated a theory to defend the free trade - (September 11, 1823 April 19, 1772 David Ricardo) David Ricardo. It claimed to economic welfare and, growing in it will be mainly export the products for each country to stand in the comparative advantage "theory of comparative cost". I stood in the position of the labor theory of value. Contributed to the organized in that it has taken for the first time an approach to model the economics, is the one who was the most influential among the economists of classical economics, Adam Smith Among economics It is described as side-by-side. He succeeded as a businessman, I laid the many goods.
Thought
The reading of Adam Smith that was published in 1799 the "Wealth of Nations", Ricardo, became interested in economics. Was supposed to lead to inflation from the issuance of fiat money the Bank of England to stop the gold standard in 1797 of the slightly earlier, Ricardo of crash bill ─ ─ about rising prices of "bullion in 1810 for this announced the essay proof "(The High Price of Bullion, a Proof of the Depreciation of Bank Notes) called, and claimed a return to the gold standard to stand in the quantity theory of money.
Especially famous by Ricardo, is a rent theory and claims of free trade that was born from the dispute with Malthus over the Corn Laws, the result of the diminishing returns that is due to the labor theory of value and the promotion of increased ⇒ national wealth of profit accumulation by free trade I claimed, "On the Principles of Political Economy, and Taxation" in the formation of rent as. However, with respect to claims of Malthus that it argue there were many, and agree on views on population he mentioned in the "theory of population", it is assumed in the discussion "On the Principles of Political Economy, and Taxation" of.
Equivalent proposition of Ricardo (Ricardian equivalence) - Under some conditions, the choice of government or tax government bonds of whether (deficit spending), (or financial resources of expenditure economy which does not give any effect on the economy to be either suggesting discuss that) there is no difference at all to impact on. From what has been made famous by the filing of Robert Barrow, it is called "(equivalent proposition, principle of equivalence, equivalence theorem) neutral proposition of Ricardo = Barrow" also.
Ricardo was born in London as the third of 17 children. Hispanic and his home in the Jewish system of Portugal, before just a little he was born, I came to the UK emigrated from the Netherlands. At the age of 14, Ricardo joined the work of his father Abraham Ricardo on the London Stock Exchange. At the age of 21, Ricardo rejected the faith of the orthodox Jewish family, run off with Priscilla Ann Wilkinson of Quaker. It was decided that will be disinherited from his father by this, and as an independent stockbroker himself. Ricardo has become a Muslim Unitarian then.
Success in the stock exchange of Ricardo to him wealthy, retired from work in 1814, which became a 42-year-old soon. Buy a mansion Gyatokomu Park in Gloucester County to (Gatcombe Park), was the abode of life. Run for the House of Commons in (House of Representatives) from Porter ring ton, which is a city constituency of Ireland, and also claims the free trade as a deputy with winning, and insisted on the abolition of the Corn Laws in 1819. With prominent economist James Mill and Thomas Tooke, such as Jeremy Bentham and Thomas Robert Malthus, was instrumental in the establishment of political and economic club (Political Economy Club) in 1821.
Ricardo is a close friend of James Mill, Mill advised the writing of economics and political ambitions to him. There are Bentham and Malthus in the prominent other friends. . Kun "discussion was not hurt in any way our friendship even if I agreed with my theory, you now more about it in a letter to Malthus that 10 days ago, was also the opponents of death It is marked "do not have to fall in love.
